Did you know you don’t have to wear braces to straighten your teeth? It’s true! Invisalign® offers patients the best alternative to braces with removable plastic trays that are custom-designed to fit their mouths.
With Invisalign®, you swap out the trays every two weeks or so and wear them for about a year. Also known as metal braces, traditional braces are the tried-and-true method of orthodontic treatment. Dr. J attaches brackets connected with an archwire to your teeth, then tightens them to help shift them into proper alignment.
You might think metal braces are all bulky and painful, but those old-school designs are a thing of the past. Modern metal braces are lightweight and have smaller brackets, making them a lot more comfortable for patients.
With traditional braces, you’ll need to visit Dr. J every four to six weeks for an adjustment to continue to progress through the treatment.
Lingual braces are really unique — they go on the backside of your teeth! This makes them invisible when you talk or smile, even up close. Using custom-made brackets and wire, Dr. J creates a specially designed braces treatment that allows you to straighten your teeth without anyone noticing.
While they are great from an aesthetic point of view, lingual braces can be difficult to clean and cause some speech impairment in some patients. We suggest discussing these braces more with Dr. J during your consultation.
These braces are also called “self-ligating braces,” and they require fewer adjustments than regular braces. Technology braces use advanced 3D printing technology to make custom brackets for your teeth, eliminating the need for individual placement and adjustment.
With technology braces, you will still need to visit us regularly, but the appointments will be shorter and less frequent than those required with regular braces. Technology braces are the most modern type of braces and include no rubber bands. They’re also easier to clean and cause less irritation and discomfort than other braces.
